Walt Sellers

My wife Sharon and I gratefully worship and serve at Four Corners Church. We have been attending since the summer of 2011, when the church met at the Alamo. I was asked to be on the advisory board in 2012 and was installed as an elder in 2013. At 67, I am the oldest of the FCC Elder Board. I rejoice that the Lord has given me 67 years to enjoy life—51 of these as a new creation in Christ.

For 40 years, I have been married to Sharon, and we have 2 married children and 7 grandchildren. Our daughter Katy, her husband Chris, and 4 grandsons live nearby, and we see them regularly. Sharon retired from Clayton State University after 30 years of teaching and has been teaching literature, as a volunteer, for the last 17 years at the Konos Academy. She is my best friend, and as my wife, she helps me do all that I am able to do. She reads avidly and loves learning. We both enjoy serving others, dining out and exploring, reading and being students of the Scriptures.

I continue to work—mainly as the president of Sellers Mechanical Services—a company I started in 1996 that specializes in Industrial/Mechanical Contracting. We currently have around 22 employees and many subcontractors. Our clients include many recognizable household names, and we have served them in many parts of the country. I also enjoy farming, several other business ventures, and essentially anything that includes the outdoors. Yard work, gardening, hunting, fishing, hiking, playing golf, raising homing pigeons, and scuba diving have all been hobbies that let me enjoy God’s creation. More than God’s external creation, I enjoy the internal work of God’s Spirit as He teaches, guides, comforts, and works to make me more like Jesus, which is the Lord’s main purpose for me.

As an elder and shepherd at FCC, I am privileged to watch God’s Spirit make others more like Jesus. In addition to shepherding, I work with the deacons, overseeing church finances as the CFO and working with buildings and grounds. I am blessed to serve with the other elders and deacons and for God’s people at Four Corners Church.
