The Praying
Sermon 5 in Series
Ephesians 6:18-20
[18] praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, [19] and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, [20] for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.
1. What have been your biggest takeaways from our time on the whole armor of God? How have you found it both encouraging and challenging?
2. Why is prayer such an important indicator of spiritual readiness and health? Why is a lack of prayer connected to pride?
3. What relationship does prayer have to the pieces of armor? How can we fall into pursuing the armor while neglecting prayer?
4. In what ways does this passage portray prayer as a way of life? What does it look like to pray “at all times”?
5. Have you thought about prayer as hard work? Why does not thinking this way lead to discouragement?
6. How does this passage push us away from self? What does it look like for us to responsibly pray for ourselves while being rightly oriented towards others?
7. What are Paul’s prayer requests to the Ephesians? How does this direct our prayer priorities?
