Sermon 4 in Series
Ephesians 6:14-17
[14] Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, [15] and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. [16] In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; [17] and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,
1. What pieces of armor have stood out to you the most? Are there some that you have given little thought to in the past?
2. What is biblical faith and what does it look like in everyday life? What does it mean to say that it is indispensable, fundamental, and all-encompassing for the Christian?
3. How are you encouraged by the end of v. 16? Why is it sobering to think of Satan’s attacks as flaming arrows?
4. How does 1 Thessalonians 5:8-10 help us understand what Paul means by the “helmet of salvation”?
5. How has Satan attacked your assurance of salvation? How does he try to redirect our thoughts by knocking off our helmet?
6. Why is the sword unique among the pieces of armor?
